Why Macau for a Ultra-Luxury trip
Macau's highest tier comes in the form of villas and sky suites that are often reserved for top casino patrons, with private entrances, butler teams, dedicated pools and personal chefs. Even outside the gaming world, the leading Cotai resorts offer multi-room suites with sweeping views, private shopping hours and helicopter transfers from Hong Kong. Spectacle and scale are the point, and service is calibrated accordingly.
Macau combines Portuguese colonial heritage with Las Vegas-scale entertainment resorts. Its luxury hotels range from all-suite towers on the Cotai Strip to more intimate properties near the historic center, and dining spans Cantonese, Macanese and fine European cuisine. It does extravagance and large-scale spectacle unusually well, with a centuries-old old town just across the bridges.
When to go: October to December offers mild, dry weather that is ideal for walking the old town. Summers are hot, humid and rainy, with typhoons possible from roughly May to October.
